Donkey Ball is basketball on a donkey, it's a real thing and it's been around for decades. I don't really have anything I can add.
Ultimate hot rod - there's two schools of thought on building a supersonic land speed record vehicle. One is to assemble a bunch of big-wallet sponsors and design the kind of carbon-and-titanium dream that makes 5th graders buy extra paper for their school notebooks.
The other is to buy a junkheap supersonic fighter, strap some wheels on and watch it go.

APS in the news! The office has been all up in arms about this today. Let me say, APS did not actually tell 60 minutes to find Duncan and we do not support LENRs. Of all the things to report on....
HANG THIS CHEATSHEET UP IN YOUR TIME MACHINE - an interesting list (zoomable, but obligatory pedantry makes me feel it could be improved. [more inside]

Person from Porlock, a 200-year-old literary meme. According to Samuel Taylor Coleridge, the poem Kublai Khan came to him fully-formed as he slept; but while setting it to paper he was interrupted by an unnamed Person from Porlock, and returned to his desk with only threads of the idea remaining.
Not a MacGuffin or a Proof in a too-cramped margin or an Alan Smithee, it hangs on either side of the fourth wall: outside it, an interloper who disrupts the author's flow, or within the story, a transient figure who acts to redirect events.

This headline really got my hopes up.

Hard Times for Professional Gaming - several leagues have folded forcing the players to go back and get (gulp) real jobs. As a part-time gamer myself, I can say I have only barely heard these leagues existed which is either a comment on their low-profile or my lack of true dedication to the fine art of teabagging virtual people I've taken down. Also, it seems like there is a "season" about to start for Major League Gaming. If you could pick any time of the year for a fundamentally indoor activity, would you pick your season to run through the most pleasant part of the year? Maybe gamers like football and basketball too much.
