My goodness... think of all the new two letter words that he'll have to memorize: Ur, Oz, Ao, Io, Au, Bu, Ci, ....

So is Coca Cola Classic one playable word in New Scrabble, or do the proper nouns have to be spaceless?

Apparently this new version will only be available outside North America. 1 min NPR clarification here. The difference being that Mattel owns rights to Scrabble outside NA and Hasbro owns rights in NA. Mattel is offering new version, Hasbro is not.

Woohoo!! We get to call non-Americans uncultured cretins!!!

Further details: proper nouns would only be used in a new offshoot game called "Scrabble Trickster" which would add special action cards to the game that might allow you to use proper nouns, spell a word backwards, or steal opponent's points. So in other words, not affecting the main game of Scrabble no matter the continent on which you might be playing.
