Anyone know where the $65 M in profit goes? In all my hatred of UT's football team, it had never occurred to me that they were making this much money... perhaps I could be less angry of all the hype if the profits were being used for "good".
Apparently a "profit" does not exist.
My understanding is that football pulls in a profit, but as McD points out, it is offset by the other sports, so that athletics as a whole doesn't have a profit.
That was a good read. Has UT issued some statement about where they've cut the athletic budget?
Um, a profit didn't exist in 2008-2009. The data in that article seems incomplete, since it says which bowl game UT goes to makes a difference in the income. Does anyone have a multi-year income/expense report?
The CNN article says that for the 2008-2009 season Texas had 65 million in profit.
(a profit for football that is)
Sorry, I meant "I agree that there was not an overall UT sports profit in 2008-2009. But that doesn't mean there isn't an overall profit if you look longer term." I'm not saying there IS a profit overall, necessarily, but I don't think that Texan article fully answered the question.

I've heard it said that Football alone supports all other sports at UT, but I don't have a link to back it up.
