I got at least 3 other reports of others getting the same email (word-for-word) but I did not receive one so I didn't realize. I will have to look into making the email address on the profile page private unless you are logged into an account. (I seem to have thought that was how it was operating already though a check shows it is public to people not logged in).

Also, full disclosure, when I say "I will look into it" it means I will try the few easy things that won't work and then mrflip will actually come through and fix it.

oh - I don't care at all if my email addy is published. I mean, how else are "tall good looking young girl,so lovely and caring with good understanding.fair in complexion, care with good sharing, honesty" ladies going to find me otherwise?

BTW - was curious about the User ID numbering - how many of the first 30-50 or so are still active participants?

Wow, so mrflip has changed it so you need to be logged into an account to see email addresses and it took him like 2 minutes. The force is strong with this one. You know what, this calls for an image macro:

I feel 4chan loved.

@pablo -- we did some user stats a while ago, I'm too lazy to look them up but maybe you will.

ID 40 checking in. I didn't get the email, but I also don't look like the sort of gal who'd like to know ourself more. Also, I made natedogg take my email off there about 2 years ago when someone spammed me.

So I can put it back up? Why would I put it back up?

ID 53 here, and I did receive the e-mail. Back when I used Bloglines for RSS, I noticed that it always displayed the e-mail address of the posters, but I don't remember if I have seen that lately. And obviously not now since mrflip is the man.

I guess what I wonder is how many others I have received that have gone straight to Spam. Maybe this has been happening for a while but this is the first solicitation that was crafted well enough to evade the GMail spam filter.

ID 263 here, and I got it... so I don't think it was the first n IDs that got hit.

BTW - too lazy to look up the stats (though surprised the ID's go up to 263), however, I emailed juliet and she didn't write me back (sad faced emoticon)

I get too.

I thought this was a personal request to get me to return to the site. I mean, splatnikganlion didn't get one, so it must be my awesome profile that would interest young girl to have good friendship with me even though I have married. I'm very disappointed to find that I'm not that special.

She didn't write to me, even! Exit stage left!

A quick survey of users 0-20, I count 6 that are inactive (posted more than a year ago) and 3 that forgot their passwords and have another account now. (Also 2 "default" accounts and 1 admin.) So that's 8 that are still active. Anyone want to check out 20-40?

Most of the '05 and '06 users are spam I think.

I apparently don't post nearly enough to get any love spam. I don't think I'm sad about this.

I take my comment back, my email is still list conveniently as physics.utexas.edu so who knows if I got spam :)

Hey Flip, how come 18+23+36+56+17+1+1+2+2+2+2+3+1+2+15+4 < 263 ?

It looks like there are a ton of Secret Squirrel accounts that are not counted.

Oh, from that previous April fool's day joke? Or was that the time we were all turned into Splatnik?

what was my original user name? it was some crazy Indian alchemist. I forgot the name but not the pword and then created this accnt =P

Aryabhatta

There were many accounts created by spambots (a few a day) and the new user notifications were going to an email address I don't check very much so it took some time before I realized what was happening. Those accounts are now removed (and probably come up as "Secret Squirrel" if you type in the ID number because that is what it plugs in when it has no other valid information) but the ID #s were never cleared so new users still get whatever the next number would have been. We have since had to turn off new registrations completely until we decide to sit down and do something more secure (of course, when someone real actually does want to sign up we can accommodate that).
