I feel like we've discussed crazy rock band tour riders before (though I can't find it). Anyway, the Foo Fighters do ask for some crazy stuff but don't take themselves too seriously while they do it.
John Flansburgh discusses tour riders with Ira Glass on This American Life. If you don't want to listen, he basically says that it's actually a good idea to have some crazy stuff in there you can find right away (like Van Halen asking for M&Ms with all the brown ones removed) because then you'll know if they read the important stuff like having enough power and safety procedures. Or the sobriety of the local crew.
