Some of you may remember the march madness-like tournament of physicists idea kicked around some time ago - well Wired has done a similar thing with gadgets - have a look.
oh, and I didn't see fixies in round 1. do they show up in round two?

I looked through it but does anybody think that the masses won't pick the iPod or another Apple product to win this? I didn't even vote because I was so sure of the final outcome I didn't want to bother.
dude, it puts iPod up against other shit that's way more fundamental that than a music player. I don't think it's a shoe-in
i personally went with the sextant. just 'cuz.

that's pretty cool, although I disagree with the iPod going up against the HP calculator. I mean WTF? who could argue that an ipod is better than the first inexpensive scientific calculator? How else would future generations be able to rid themselves of such trivialities like mental arithmetic?
