Google Transit works for Austin Enter your starting and ending points, and a departure or arrival time. It will tell you what combination(s) of bus and walking will get you there. Snazzy!
Note that if you go to zoomlevel <= 3, little Bus Stop icons will appear, listing arrival times at that point.
RLM to Barton Springs
RLM to Gateway/Arboretum
RLM to Ye Northern Barbarian Hinterlands where There Be Dragones
RLM to Walnut Creek for a long lunch Mountain Bike break
Also, that Barton Springs route could be improved upon by taking the #29 which runs from Dobie directly to the south entrance to the park.
The 5 min transfer wait has to beat the walk to Dobie -- though perhaps the Forty Acres to the Dobie is a more reliable transfer option.
It actually doesn't seem to know about the #29 at all... weird.
Turns out its called "Mo PAC Expy" -- RLM to National Instruments (at 11500 N Mo PAC Expy, Austin TX).
Yikes, that magic flying "walk" in the sky over uh The Domain looks frightening.
I think part of the problem with why it wasn't displaying the #29 has to do with which route is leaving soonest to right now. For example, it recommends that I take the #29 to campus from my apartment but also suggests the much more rational choice of just waiting for the #3 which literally stops outside my front door.
Neat! It even includes cost comparisons based on IRS allowances for per mile deductions.
Google News now has local news searches; pretty interesting.

Funny how the Hinterlands are actually closer than Walnut Creek Park ;-)
It doesn't like to find addresses on Mopac (not that I've tried that hard, but google maps usually can do it)
