We just got a new kitten. We are trying to name it. I usually name pets after characters is books. Any suggestions? We were thinking maybe Huey....
He is very playful and keeps attacking Charlotte's tail. She is Not Amused about this but hopefully she will warm up to him. His current favorite toy is our coffee table's legs. Oh, and I big thanks to whoever added spell check!

Maybe something a little less tragic. I could knit him a cute sweater with 24601 though...... If we name him Fidel he would end up on the no-fly list and Bush might get mixed up and I really don't want a raid on my house.

Huey from The Boondocks? Huey of Dewey and Louie? Just curious. I couldn't think of any good biracial male literary characters. Temperamentally, though, maybe Huck? Do any of the 101 dalmatians have names? (As an aside, I saw two dalmatian-great dane mixes this weekend. Odd.) He's a cutie, though... congrats!

Nate, it has already been suggested by MrFlip :) and vetoed because I already I'm trying very hard not to compare him to Max and the thought of Max still makes me a little teary. So we are trying to find something totally different. I hadn't thought about the black/white thing until Ms cegenation suggested it. Michael or Jackson might be good....

What do you all think of Fezziwig? He is a character from "A Christmas Carol". He throws a good party.

Other names I suggested that were rejected include Domino, Motherfucker; Reepicheep; and Gaius Julius Caesar Octavianus.
Instead I offer scoresby (would be lyra but wrong sex), pogo or parker. Alas mehitabel also doesn't work.

mehitabel is a great name. I loved those books once upon a time. I'll have to consider it for any future pets (alongside all the great Hindi words I have lined up; yes, I'm that kind of cultural usurper but at least I bothered to learn it first).
How is it that I have never heard of this His Dark Materials series? And there is a movie set for release this year? I thought I was on top of things and this seems like a big event release.

I'd offer some names, but no one is impressed with my pet naming ability (Annie, Molly, Buddy, Fishy...)
One of my friends named his toys Pat the Sheep and Stretch the Rubber Chicken (after Garfield's, of course). In that vein, you could name the new kitty Skin. (sorry. i like cats, really i do :)
