Looks like the Kas group has finally got the cell stretcher up and running. I still think this is a stupid idea but I hope it becomes very successful.
Now it would be really friggin awesome if they could pull that technique off in situ.
When I say it's a stupid idea I guess I mean it just doesn't strike me as a very imaginative solution to a real problem. It seems like the kind of idea a little kid would have if you told her that lasers could stretch little things like cells.
That said, I hope it works wonderfully and helps save peoples lives. It's just not an invention I would call elegant (although I'm sure others would).

So I don't know too much about these fancy-schmancy lasers or really anything about bio. Why do you think this is a stupid idea?
