10PM
Morale is still high as the courageous warriors plunge forth into the seedy underbelly of PHP.
Flip continues to kick serious ass. A setback is suffered when it is discovered that 2
databases are needed and some other stuff that I don't understand. Flip is momentarily phased
but quickly recovers. Nate begins to read about the rise of communism in Russia and continues
into comic books. Nate reminisces about all the Jim Lee comics he used to own from X-Men
through to the Image days and WildC.A.T.S. It is agreed that Nate and Flip should visit a
comic book store soon, although Flip will surrender his wallet before the trip so that he does
not spend needlessly. The site in its current design state is seen.
11PM
Nate has now expanded from comics he used to read through to comics he would like to read but
never got around to, and somehow reads a biography of Tori Amos. It turns out that the UT
library system does not carry The Sandman
comics, just the later graphic novels, which is kind of a disappointment. Flip begins to feel
severe hunger pangs which were only hinted at when they left his house a mere three hours ago.
It is decided unilaterally by Flip that "you're going to owe me a sandwich from...the
place...mrglellelemr" before trailing off and fixing some more code.
12:10AM
Flip "I think I'm almost done."
One moment later...
[rapping of knuckles] "Okay, see, here's the problem"
One more moment...
"wonder if I should have DIFFed that. Ah, screw it"
12:25AM
Flip declares that it is his birthday, despite documentary evidence to the contrary. This
announcement is coupled with the dance alternately known as "drivin' the school bus" (to Flip)
and "cabbage patch" (to the rest of the world).
12:45AM
Goddammit, the time is fucked up. And I can't log in to fix metaphilter parameters. On the
other hand, Flip can. Okay, the time is just fucked up on all posts after August 23rd when we
switched to "Texas time" at the constant pestering of javelina. Bastard. The two hours of
perl-y goodness required to fix the UNIX time associated with all of those posts is not worth
it. Damn.
Flip is starting to vibrate with the natural frequency of the universe and asks more and more
frequently, "is there
anything else I have to do right now?" I begin to worry that I have withheld the food for a little bit too long.
01:15AM
Lo, these brave nerds did look unto their work and smile. For that had created a powerful
beast that would probably soon be overcome with problems galore. At this time, however,
that
sensation is the furthest thing from their minds. It was time for pickles and avocados on
wheat bread. Perhaps they could reward themselves with a cookie. In the end, they'd better
get moving because JJ's closes at 2 and I fear for my life if Flip is left pulling madly at
the locked doors of the sub shop.
